FDA Announces Dietetic and Nutrition Workshop

The U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has scheduled a Dietetic and Nutrition Workshop for Tuesday, February 3, 2009 from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, at the FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), Harvey W. Wiley Building, 5100 Paint Branch Parkway, College Park, Maryland. The Workshop is designed for dietetic interns, students and faculty in dietetics and nutrition, practicing dietitians and nutritionists, and all other interested parties.

The purpose of the Workshop is to communicate FDA's nutrition and regulatory activities that are relevant to the practice of dietetics and nutrition. The following tentative list of topics: Infant Formula, Food Allergy, FDA Codex Alimentarius activities, Food Labeling Health Claims, Consumer Research on Use of Food Label by Young Adults, Dietary Supplements, and Safety of Fresh Produce.

The Workshop format will consist of presentations, case studies, and question and answer sessions. There is no charge for the workshop but registration is required. To register go to http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/register.html or contact Ms. Lynise Fox at Lynise.Fox@fda.hhs.gov.
